PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CREATION VS. EVOLUTION

Age of the Earth
Creation: 6000 years
Evolution: 4.6 billion years

How did the sun and stars form
Creation: day 4 God
Evolution: combining of gases being released, Earth being cold and magma made land

How did the planets form
Creation: day 2
Evolution: gas, rocks

Origin of life
Creation: day 6 create man in his own image
Evolution: we all came from
Aliens or fishes or monkeys

Order organisms evolved or were created
Creation: 1.day, night 2.atmosphere 3. Land,seas, plants 4. Sun,moon,stars, seasons 5. Birds, aquatic animals 6. Land animals and humans
Evolution: over time, evolved to have ability to reproduce sexually

The great flood
Creation: rain 40 days and 40 nights and covered the
Earth
Evolution: a giant meteor struck the earth and made the ocean on the land

Animals on the ark
Creation: God said to Noah build a ark and put 2 of each animal on it and bring your family
Evolution: it didn't happen

Fossil record
Creation: the fossil was covered by mud when the great flood happen
Evolution: the fossil record provides snapshots or the past that, when assembled, illustrate a panorama of evolutionary change over the past billion years

Vestigial organs
Creation: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Gen 2.7).
Evolution: uses vestigial organs to explain how different species were created

Homologous
Creation: God created everything in his own image
Evolution: predicts that related organisms will share similarities that are derived from common ancestors.

Analogous organs
Creation: Some organs superficially appear to be similar and perform the same function. For example, their wings allow butterflies and birds to fly; and both cats and beetles use their legs to walk. But these creatures have completely different genetic and anatomical structures. This kind of similarity is only superficial.
Evolution: Analogous structures are ones that basically have th same function but not the same underlying structure.
Examples: Bat's wing & Fly's wing- they both are used to help the creature fly, but they have diff patterns in bone structure.

Geography
Creation: Isaiah 40:22 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;
Evolution: The distribution of living things on the globe provides information about the past histories of both living things and the surface of the Earth.

Embryology
Creation: Jeremiah 1:4-5 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Evolution: The new field of "evo-devo"–an integration of evolutionary biology with our growing understanding of embryonic development–is an exciting a fruitful area of intense scientific research.
