CRITTERS RELATED TO

CAMELS AND SEALS

ADAPTATIONS OF THE SANNIPEDIUS

HABITAT: DESERT

To cool off in the heat

Doesn't feed at night because its harder to spot desert plants for food and predators

Has tan colored fur to blend into the sand. Thick arms with claws to dig in sand and make burrows

Has thick leathery lining on mouth to chew thorny desert plants

1 eyelid to clean sand,
2nd eyelid to prevent sand, 3rd to still see when there is a lot of sand

Has less cutaneous fat so it doesn't insulate the heat as much and prevents seals from getting overheated

Facilitates the flow of red blood cells during dehydration and makes them
better at withstanding high
osmotic variation.

VARIATION

THE SEALS HAVE A DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF FAT

STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL

TRYING NOT TO GET DIE FROM BEING OVERHEATED IN THE DESERT

STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL

SEALS WITH LESS CUTANEOUS FAT DON'T INSULATE AS MUCH HEAT

PASS IT ON

THOSE SEALS REPRODUCE AND PASS ON THEIR SMALL BUILD TO OFFSPRING

THE SANNIPEDIUS
