PROTAGONIST

  • THE LEADING CHARACTER OR ON OF THE MAJOR CHARACTERS IN A DRAMA, MOVIE, NOVEL, OR OTHER FICTIONAL TEXT.
  • EX:George in OMM

ANTAGONIST

  • A person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another.
  • EX: Curley from OMM

FLAT CHARACTERS

  • An easily recognized character type in fiction who may not be fully delineated but is useful in carrying out some narrative purpose of the author
  • EX: The Boss in OMM

ROUND CHARACTER

  • A character who is fully fleshed out. We have understanding of their feelings, thoughts, and motivations.
