Chemical Reaction
Changes in matter come when different types of matter interact with each other or with sources of energy.

In any chemical reaction there are two parts. Reactants are the substances that go into the reaction; products are the new substances that are produced.

Hypothesis

If we tie a paper clip to a string and add borax with hot water and food coloring then the crystals would grow on the paper clip because of the chemical reaction happening with the paper clip and the borax.

MATERIALS

  • Red cup
  • String
  • Paper clip
  • Red & blue food coloring
  • Borax

PROCEDURES

  • Tie your paper clip onto your string
  • Place hot water into your red cup
  • Apply your sting and paper clip in your cup
  • Apply your choice of food coloring
  • Mix... WATCH YOUR CRYSTALS GROW!!

Analysis
We placed the paper clip towards the bottom, because of this the crystals grew on the bottom of the cup. This reaction is called an ionic bomb. The paper clip created a reaction with the borax.
