- I'm going to talk about two important people
- in Cuban history.

FIDEL CASTRO
- Became dictator in 1959 after the Cuban revolution.
- Became president in 1976 to 2008
- Cuban revolution from 1952 to 1959
- Kennedy threatened to overthrow Castro in 1961.

CASTROS LIFE
- Fidel Castro was born near Birán, Cuba, on August 13, 1926.
- Though some people say he was born a year later.
- Castros father was rich, he owned a sugar plantation.
- Castro was more interested in sport then in school.
- after graduating he went to law school.

WIFE
- In 1948 he married Mirta Diaz Balarn.
- She came from a wealthy family.
- Had a chilled called Fidelito.
- Their marriage ended in 1955.
- Some people say he had two wife's.

FULGENCIO BATISTA POLITICAL FIGURE
- Was president from 1940 to 1944
- and dictator from 1952 to 1959,
- 1933 he gained power and appointed himself
- chief of the armed forces.
HIS LIFE
- He was born on January 16, 1901
- He died on August 6, 1973)
- Marta Fernández Miranda de Batista was
- Fulgencio second wife.
- She was the First Lady of Cuba from 19 52 to 1959

EXILE
- In 1959 Fulgencio was overthrown
- by Fidel Castro how then toke post
- as president of Cuba.
- Fulgencio and Marta were sent into exile.
