BACKGROUND

  • Cuba's national language is Spanish
  • U.S.'s national language is English
  • Cuba's Capitol is Havana
  • The United States Capitol is Washington, D.C.

CONTRASTS

  • Cuba is a communist society while America is a Democratic society
  • They have had several constitution but we have only had one
  • They have 2 presidents and 2 Vice Presidents but the U.S. only has 1 of each
  • American Presidents have 4 year terms with a 2 term limit but in Cuba their terms last for 5 years and they have no term limits
  • In the United States the President is voted on by the citizens, but in Cuba the President is voted on by the National Assembly
  • In Cuba the Vice President is voted on by the National Assembly, but in the United States the Vice President is appointed by the President
  • In the United States there are states and in Cuba there are provinces
  • The U.S. has 50 states, but Cuba only has 15 provinces

  • We both have had several amendments to the constitution
  • Both countries have a Judicial Branch with a Supreme Court
  • They also have the Executive and Legislative branches
  • The President has a cabinet, in both the United States and in Cuba
