  • One of the most influential visual art styles of the early 20th century.
  • First abstract style of modern art.
  • Cubists were influenced by art from other cultures, particularly African masks.

  • Analytical Cubism(1909-1912)

EARLY CUBISM

  • Depiction of the whole structure of the object.
  • It's position in space
  • Combined different viewpoints

ANALYTICAL CUBISM(PRE 1912)

  • Broke down the subject
  • the early phase of cubism
  • use of geometric shapes
  • a tendency toward a monochromatic use of color.

SYNTHETIC CUBISM(POST 1912)

  • the late phase of cubism
  • use of color
  • the imitation or introduction of a wide range of textures and material into painting.
