Cubism History

  • It was one of the most influential visual art styles of the early twentieth century.
  • Created by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque between 1907-1914 in Paris
  • The term named after french critic Louis Vauxcelles saw Braque's landscape
  • Vauxcelles called the geometric objects highly abstracted "cubes"
  • Cubists rejected ideas of painting nature, instead 2 dimensional canvases
