• Society attached special status to sportsmen who defended their family and home with their strength
• People take much pride in sports and welcome them anywhere
• Women could not compete

• The traditional drink is "Dough" which is yogurt, water, salt, and dried mint
• Nan (a flat bread) is regularly eaten
• Iranians like starchy foods
