Chapter 1 The main characters are Fransisco,his brother Roberto and Trampita,mom and dad.Fransisco family decide to move to California for a better life.They came into California illegally.
Chapter 2 It was the season to pick cotton.Mom and dad and Roberto picked cotton and Fransisco stayed with Trampita because he was to young to pick cotton.While Trampita was sleeping inn the car,Fransisco decided he would pick cotton and show his family he was old enough. He picked all da and forgot about Trampita.When mom and dad came back they were very very angry with Francisco.Papa was also angry because Fransisco picked cotton wrong papa was afraid the would get fired.
Chapter 3 Fransisco started school.School was very very hard for him because he didn't know english. He stared at a caterpillar every day because it gave him a happy feeling.There was a bully in his class named Curtis.When the principal gave Fransisco a jacket,Curtis.When Fransisco won the picture contest his class mates were happy for him ad he felt more included later, Curtis said "Nice picture" and then Fransisco gave him the picture.The became friends.
Chapter 4 Mama had another baby named Torito.One night is lips turned purple and he stopped breathing.Everyone panicked started to cry.Mama started to prayed and Torito slowly started to breath.Mama and papa tried many things to get him better and nothing worked.They ad to take him to the hospital.He was not getting better.Mama and papa promised t pray to el Sant Nino every night if Torito would get well.Torito started to getting well.He came home from the hospital.Everyone sad it was a miracle.
Chapter 5 When it rains, the family cannot pick cotton,so Fransisco is very bored.He stares out his window into his neighbors window and watches the goldfish they have on a tiny table.One day when Francisco was walking home from school,he saw puddles wit dying fish.He saw a little gray fish and he picked it up and took it home.He wanted to give the fish to his neighbors,but they weren't home to give the fish in a coffee can and left it at his neighbors front door.Later that day when he looked out the window he saw the little gray fish in the bowl with the goldfish.
Chapter 6 Fransisco wanted a ball for Christmas.His family hadn't worked for a while so they had very little money.A couple wanted papa to buy some goods from them so they could have money.Mama saw a beautiful handkerchief,but the have no money to buy it.Francisco and is brother sister got candy.Francisco was sad.When mama open her gift,it was the handkerchief.
Chapter 7 Francisco had a pet parrot with red,green and yellow feathers.Mama Roberto and Fransisco loved him.The parrot really loved Francisco.He also loved him.He also loved the neighbor cat Catarina."El Perico" squealed loudly,especially when he was unhappy.One night Catarina did not come to visit with his owners.The parrot squealed.The noise upset papa who was in a bad mood.Papa grabbed the broom.He wacked "El Perico" and fell to the floor and died.Mama,Roberto and Francisco were very sad because the loved "El Perico".
Chapter 8 Francisco and his family came to Corcoran to pick cotton. Papa laid out three cotton sacks to get them ready to pick cotton the next morning. Francisco wanted his sack, but Papa didn't think he was old enough. He had to help the family pick cotton to fill their bags. On Thanksgiving weekend, Papa, Francisco and Roberto went to look for more cotton fields. Francisco wanted to show Papa he was old enough to have his own sack. The weather was very cold. Francisco couldn't last too long. Papa sent him to the fire to get warm. Francisco realized he was not old enough to get his own cotton sack.
Chapter 9 It was the end of strawberry season. Francisco and his family had to move again. They went to a place near Fresno to pick grapes. After grape season Francisco was able to go to school. He became very close with his sixth grade teacher, Mr. Lema. He spent his lunchtime with Mr. Lema learning English. One day Mr. Lema offered Francisco a chance to learn how to play the trumpet. Francisco was very excited and he couldn't wait to tell his parents. When he got home he opened the door and saw the boxes. He knew it was time to move.
Chapter 10 Francisco spent his day picking strawberries. After work and on weekends, Francisco and his brothers played kick the can with the bully Carlos. Carlos would not let a little boy named Manuelito play with them. This made Francisco mad, but he was afraid to stand up to Carlos. At the strawberry fields Francisco met a man named Don Gabriel. They became friends. One day Gabriel and Francisco went to work for another farmer. The farmer treated Gabriel badly. He stood up for himself and as tired. Francisco learned that it was important to be proud and stand up for what you believe in. The next time he played kickball, he stood up to Carlos and Manuelito got to play.
Chapter 11 Francisco's hobby was collecting old coins.He loved his coins.He also had a note pad where he wrote down new things he learned.The note pad was very important to him.One day when Francisco was at school Mama and Rorra went to the grocery store.Rorra used Francisco coins to buy gum. When Francisco came home from school he looked for his coins and saw they were gone, he found out that his sister had taken them. He was very upset. Mama said she it little and didn't realize they were so important to you. Francisco lost his notebook when his house caught on fire. He thought he lost everything. Then he realized he remembered what was in his book so it was not really lost.
Francisco and his family moved to Santa Maria. Papa could not work because of his back. Roberto found a part-time job. Life was getting better, So they decided they would stay. Francisco was so happy to be in school. One day the immigration police came to school and took Francisco away. They also took Roberto. Francisco's life had just turned to get better and then he was taken away.
Authors note I think Francisco life is way different than my life.I think his life would be so much more different than other peoples life like people that are social.
