Old Testament is the fist part of the bible with 39 books, that was originally written in Hebrew.

FOUR CATEGORIES OF BOOKS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

  • The Law
  • The history
  • The wisdom
  • The prophets

The New Testament is called the New Testament because the Old Testament inspired the New Testament. Also The gospels are the heart of the scripture.

  • Matthew
  • Mark
  • Luke
  • John

HOW THE BIBLE CAME TO BE

People experienced God over a long period of time- Old Testament
People shared the stories of their experiences of God- New Testament

The leaders to the church determined the official collection of inspired book that is the bible. This official collection is called psalms

People speaking different languages translate the bible into their own languages which are Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic

Oral tradition is the handing on of messages of Gods saving plan through words and deeds.

The early Christians were concerned about protecting and save guarding the message of Christ by writing it down because the many witnesses and testimony might be lost because protest of witness

Four standards used by bishops of the church are tradition, prophetic authorship , witness of the spirit, and universal acceptance

Catholic bible English translations are revised standard version, the new bible american, and the Douay-Rheims, the new Jerusalem bible.
