Cyberbullying is a form of harassment
Cyberbullying takes place with the use of electronics, social media sites, text messaging and the Internet
It was first recognized in 1999.

Cyberbullying is harassment focused mainly on young adults
Usually occurs either anonymously or directly with the use of technology
It also occurs when a person/group decides to harass someone.

EFFECTS OF CYBERBULLYING ON BULLY AND BULLIED?
Bullies: alcohol or drug abuse, fights, vandalism, early sexual activity, criminal convictions, abusive behavior
Bullied: depression, anxiety, change in sleep or eating habits, loss of interest, health complaints, decrease in academic achievements

WHY IS IMPACT SOMETIMES WORSE THAN FACE-TO-FACE BULLYING?
Studies show Cyberbullying makes teens feel socially anxious, lonely, frustrated, sad and helpless
People who blame themselves are more likely to ruminate
Mainly causes young adults to feel socially vulnerable because of how viral it can become

HOW TO PREVENT/AVOID?
Those who face Cyberbullying are likely to face depression or suicide
No reaction = bully will move on
Talk to your parent or a trusted adult.
Block the bully on all social media accounts.

STOMP Out Bullying!, Crisis Call Center, National Suicide Hotline
