STRUCTURE

  • They do not have bones, but they do have three main components micro tubules, intermediate filaments, and microfilaments.
  • Just like our bones vary in size so does all three main components. Microtubules Are the largest in size while microfilaments are the smallest.
  • Microtubules are made up of little bits of protein called Tubulin
  • Micro tubules can easily change shape to match the cell

FUNCTION

  • The cytoskeleton functions like our skeleton. It gives structural support so the cell can keep its shape, move around, and be protected from outside forces.
  • The cytoskeleton gives support to the cell membrane.
  • It aids in recovery from any outside injury.
  • The cytoskeleton also is involved in organelle trafficking which helps cell components like mitochondria move from one part of a cell to another.

FUN FACTS

  • The cytoskeleton connects to every organelle and every part of the cell membrane
  • The cytoskeleton is the cells skeleton
  • All of the microfilaments and microtubules combine to form the cytoskeleton
  • It was first discovered by a man named Nikolai K Koltzov

DETAILS

  • Cytoskeleton are found in Animals Cells
  • They are Eukaryotic cells
