The ojibwe name means unique puckered seam on moccasins they also had the name the anishinaabe which meant original people

Interactions between the Dakota and the Ojibwe

The Dakota and the Ojibwe fought When they first met but when they came to know each other they traded and feasted together but in 1679 a great gathering to unite the tribes was held and because they United the Dakota let the Ojibwe move farther west and the Ojibwe would give the Dakota more trading goods
