WHAT IS THE DALTON 2

The dalton 2 is a VFR departure procedure that is available by request only. It is a VFR departure with a transition to IFR

WHY WOULD YOU USE IT?

TO GET OUT OF TEB
Use this procedure to get out of TEB. To avoid delays when Newark is using Rwy 22 and TEB is using Rwy 19, VFR only 3000/3

WHERE DO YOU FIND IT?

CRITICAL DETAILS

  • Pilot must specifically request the procedure
  • Weather! Must be VFR 3000/3
  • Speed restriction must not exceed 180kias
  • Right turn heading 280 within 2 DME of TEB VOR
  • ALTITUDE maintain 1300ft (EWR is crossing over at 1800ft)

SAFTEY ISSUES

  • Towers! Two towers at the departure end of rwy 19
  • Wake turbulence. From passing over heavy jets to EWR
  • Altitude, as little as only 500ft of separation EWR traffic
  • Inadvertent flight into IMC
  • Inadvertent flight into class B airspace
