  • Although the two - Halloween and Day of the Dead - are observed during the
  • same season, there are some differences between the two.
  • Here is some information about the two.

EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

  • El dia de Los muertos is the complete opposite of halloween.
  • El dia de Los muertos means The Day of the Dead.
  • El dia de Los muertos is like a Spanish Memorial Day.
  • On this day they wake up at 6 in the morning and do whatever the
  • Dead person liked. They honor the dead children on November 1st.

  • They honor the dead adults on November 2nd.
  • The Day of the Dead is represented by skulls and skeletons.
  • The Day of the Dead is traced back to the Aztec festival
  • of the Lady of the Dead.

  • The day of the dead is known for harmless
  • communication with souls of the dead.
  • Welcoming the returns of the deceased.

HALLOWEEN

  • Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.
  • It is represented by the jack-o-lantern.
  • It signifies the end of summer and the
  • beginning of winter.

HALLOWEEN (CONTINUED)

  • It is connected to Christianity's
  • all saints day on November 1st.
  • It is associated with evil, magic,
  • monsters, and the occult of scaring
  • off evil spirits with gruesome costumes and masks.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Halloween has emerged from
  • the Celtic Gaelic "Samhain" which is summers end.
  • The day of the dead is closed tightly with Mexico.
  • Due to its uniqueness, it has been embraced by Latin Americans
  • and even some cities in the U.S. with a large hispanic population.
