THE MANDATE SUMMARIZED

  • It includes *.gov and *.mil and all DoD data centers (no exemptions).
  • Tiered Data Centers are data centers having a separate IT space.
  • And an uninterruptible power system (UPS).

  • And having a dedicated cooling system or zone.
  • And having a backup power generator.
  • Data centers are "...rooms with at least one server...providing services..."

  • This is a very broad and all-encompassing definition.
  • All data centers that will ultimately fall into compliance are deemed 'tiered data centers'.
  • All data centers that do not comply are deemed 'non-tiered data centers'.
