COOL FACTS

  • He was related to Christopher Columbus's son's wife
  • His death was never recorded
  • He named a river Rio de Las Palmas
  • Hernando Cortes was trying to conquer the land Pineda explored
  • He was given 4 ships and 270 men for his expedition

Alonso Alvarez De Pineda contributed to Texas history because he was the first European to get here, and found several of Texas's rivers.

WHAT IF?
De Pineda had not noticed that Florida was a peninsula?
It would most likely not change much, because instead of him figuring it out someone else probably would have quickly. The biggest difference would be that he would not be as well known as he is.
