• To give humans a new perception of him

Death's motives

• He wants to watch humans and figure out why they are so beautiful yet so ugly.

Death's Weaknesses

• He has to do the bidding of many different humans even if he thinks it is wrong.
• He is often tired of his job.

Death's strengths

• Death can find entertainment in humans like Liesel.
• We can see this when he says, "to prove to myself that you, and your human existence, are worth it" (4.33)
