RATIFICATION OF THE CONSTITUTION

  • The federalists supported the constitution
  • The Anti-federalists opposed of the ratificatiom of the constitution
  • Less organized than the federalists
  • The anti-federalists felt as if the constitution would lead the US into corruption
  • The antifederalists and federalists agreed that the future of was at stake because of the constitution.

VIRGINIA VS NEW JERSEY

  • Virginia Plan: wanted a bicameral legislature (based on population)
  • New Jersey Plan: wanted a unicameral legislature (each state got one vote)
  • Had no judical branch, no federal courts to resolve the disputes between the states
  • Great Compromise helped solve the dispute

HOW WERE THE SLAVES COUNTED?

  • 3/5 Compromise
  • Allowed the south to counts 3 of every 5 slaves for representation numbers
