THE PROBLEMS OF DEFORESTATION

FACTS
It is estimated that within 100 years there will be no more rainforests.
70% of Earth's land animals and plants live in forests, and many can't survive the deforestation that destroys their home.
Deforestation also drives climate change. Forests soils are moist but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover, the soil quickly dries out.
The disruption leads to more extreme temperatures swings that can be harmful to plants and animals.
Forests cover 30% of the Earth's land.

CAUSES
To help crops grow, farmers are to blame.
Loggers, some of them acting illegally, also build roads to access more and remote forests.
Wildfires prevent many young trees from growing, and destroy many trees.

EFFECTS
Fewer forests means larger amounts of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere.
This affects me by not having much clean air to breathe.
Many animals get their habitat destroyed.

SOLUTIONS
Government/Laws: It is illegal to have plants and plant products, including wood, in the U.S. market.
It is illegal to bring trees from the Amazon to the U.S.
Individuals: Planting young trees to replace older ones in any given forests.
The simplest solution would be to stop cutting down many trees.
To pressure on companies that have bad environment practices.

Opinion:
My opinion would be to save trees, and plant more trees every time a tree is cut down.
