Deforestation

  • Deforestation- the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses.

CAUSES

  • One of the causes started in the first century. The populations needed for fuel, housing, and strategic materials.
  • The creation of large cities contributed to deforestation. They cut down the trees so they could build homes and buildings.
  • Also agriculture caused a lot of deforestation. The farmers had to cut down the trees to have farmland.

EFFECTS

  • Deforestation could result in the loss of plant and animal life.
  • Also it could mean that people won't have enough oxygen to be healthy.
  • Another effect is that tourists will not want to go to Spain.

SOLUTIONS

  • People of Spain can buy from companies that have agreed to reduce deforestation.
  • They can also use renewable energy instead burning the trees for fuel like turbines and solar power.
  • They can prevent fires by making sure their camp fires are put out.
