DENMARK, FINLAND, SWEDEN, ICELAND, NORWAY

DENMARK

  • Government- It has a constitutional Monarchy.
  • Queen Margrethe II is head of state.
  • Culture- Official language is Danish. (98%)
  • They mainly eat traditional foods, such as porridge, classic roast pork, and Danish Beer.
  • Economy- It is a diverse, mixed economy, but relies on human resources.
  • It's main export is manufactured goods.
  • It's GDP is 59,831.7 US

DENMARK

  • History- One of the oldest states in Europe, and the oldest Kingdom, in the world. Began with the Viking Age.
  • Tourist Attractions- The Little Mermaid, and The Rosenborg Castle.

ICELAND

  • Government- They are a republic, and have welfare systems that provide for many of their citizens needs.
  • Culture- Mainly Norwegian or Celtic. Over 90% of them live in urban.
  • Economy- They lack a lot of imports, because of the small island.
  • History- Iceland gained its independence in 1944.
  • Tourist Attractions- Blue Lagoon and Harpa

NORWAY

  • Government- Constitutional Monarchy.
  • Culture- Eat a lot of fish, and live to the west of the Scandinavian Peninsula.
  • Economy- Mixed Economy. GDP is 499.8 billion.
  • History- They were ruled by Danish until 1814.
  • Tourist Attractions- Viking Ship Museum, located in Olso, Norway.

SWEDEN

  • Government- Constitutional Monarchy.
  • Culture- Roman Catholic, Muslim, Jewish. Population 9,031,088 people.
  • Economy- Mixed Economy, lots of imports and exports, and a skilled labor force.
  • History- Designed ships, and determined power by how much land they owned.
  • Tourist Attractions- Their main one was the Vas Museum.

FINLAND

  • Government- Republic with a representative democracy. They don't have a president, they have a prime minister who is Alexander Stubb.
  • Culture- Population is 4.5 million. Foods are mainly whole meal products, berries, and milk.
  • Economy- Highly industrial mixed economy. GDP is 49,146.
  • History- Declared Independence in December 6, 1917.

FINLAND

  • In 1809 the whole country was conquered by Alexander I, of Russia.
  • Tourist Attractions- Helsinki Cathedral, National Museum of Finland, and the Suomenlinna.
