PRESENTATION OUTLINE
depression is a feeling of gloom or sadness, but there is a much more important set of symptoms to keep in mind: depression is usually accompanied by a “slowing down” of the body. A profound lethargy or fatigue is probably a more important signal that you have succumbed to depression than whether or not you feel profoundly sad. The more pronounced the fatigue, the more serious is your depression.
If you find yourself experiencing any of the following, you may want to ask whether you are depressed:
Pain — including headaches, body aches and abdominal pain
Low energy and excessive tiredness (including claims of being “chronically fatigued”)
Reduced capacity for pleasure or enjoyment
Moods such as apathy, irritability, anxiety or sadness
Sexual complaints or problems with sexual functioning or desire
Depression is really important thing to be educated in families as our records and statistics are proving that a big number of teenagers are having depression, but by educating the families then we can avoid a lot of problems in the house, also the family will be able to help the person who is depressed.
Depression really challenges the parents of young teens who are depressed as they need to be taken care of from the parents and by educating the families then the parents will be able to help and understand the situation.
Families makes a lot of decisions when the teens are having depression or if even one of the parents is having depression so it really challenges families and it has a big affect on families.
Decisions made by families during depression are such as spending more time with them, talking about their problems with them, or ask them if they need help! Also you gotta make sure they doing alright
The behaviors and mood of a depressed person affect the whole family. There's the irritability, which sets off conflicts and derails family dynamics. The negative thought patterns, which become a prism of pessimism for everyone. The withdrawal that literally disrupts relationships and breeds wholesale feelings of rejection. There are major responsibilities that get displaced. There is a general burden of stress. And yet, families can be major forces of care, comfort, even cure.
There is a lot of local community resources that are available to help the family deal with depression:
