DOK is not...
- DOK is not a verb
- DOK is not about the "difficulty" of a task
- DOK is not a grade level indicator
DOK is...
- DOK is what follows the verb
- DOK is about intended outcome
- DOK refers to the complexity of mental processing
Complexity vs Difficulty: DOK level describes the kind of thinking involved in a task, not the likelihood that the task will be completed correctly!

Critical thinking used to be the domain of gifted students, now it's a critical domain for every student.
Communication: Expressing thoughts clearly, crisply articulating opinions, motivating through powerful speech
Collaboration: Much of all significant work is accomplished in teams, and in many cases, global teams.
Today creativity and innovation are key drivers in the global economy
