Background
Water desalination is the removal of salts and dissolved solids from saline water, also known as Desalinization. In the removal of minerals, the process removes most biological chemical compounds. Most desalination processes are based either on thermal distillation or membrane separation technologies.

Continents Examples
In Australia the Millenium Drought led to a water supply crisis across of the country. Desalinization helped them get clean water from the ocean that they could drink and survive.
North America, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America get both the same result off of it, the Desalinization, helps bring more water needed to their country with them expanding everyday and a better way for them to get safer and cleaner water without any diseases spreading. It doesn't help Antarctica since no one life's there because it's hard to establish life there.
