ANIMALS

LOCUSTS

  • They're about 15cm long
  • Eat crops, and plants
  • They are considered a delicacy in many countries

SIDEWINDER

  • Between 1.5 to 2.5 feet
  • Eats kangaroo rats and small lizards
  • Natural predators are birds of prey and men

PLANT LIFE

  • Aloes
  • Agave
  • Barrell cactus
  • Teddy bear cholla
  • Welswitchia dwarf tree

TEDDY BEAR CHOLLA

  • CAn be between 1 to 5 feet
  • Gets name due to "fuzzy" appearance
  • Produces yellow green flowers and fruit

ALOE

  • Can be between 24 to 36 inches
  • The origin of its name is unknown
  • Produces aloe-vera which is used on sunburns

OTHER FACTS

  • The temperature can range from 115 degrees to 37 degrees
  • The yearly amount of precipitation is 24 inches
  • About 1/3 of the earths surface is covered in desert
  • The largest cold desert is antarctica
  • The largest warm desert is the Sahara
