CLAIM

TORNADOS, EARTHQUAKES, HURRICANE, AND VOLCANOS ARE ALL A DESTRUCTIVE FORCE

Tornados

Tornados are a very destructive force. Tornados can pick houses up off their foundation and move then almost 60 miles from there original location. Tornados can kill people by obJects flying in the air and people being swept off the feet a hitting buildings and other large obJects.

TORNADO FACTS

  • In 1931 a tornado in Mississippi lifted an 83 ton train and tossed it 80 feet from the track.
  • On the U.S. And average of 800 tornados happen per year.
  • A Tornado in Oklahoma once destroyed a whole motel. People later found the motel’s sign in Arkansas.
  • A Tornado can sometimes hop along its path. It can destroy one house and leave the house next door untouched.

Earthquakes

Earthquakes are a destructive force. They can knock down buildings and they can make tsunamis and kill people by making buildings fall on them and they can have no food or shelter because the earthquake destroy the buildings and houses.

EARTHQUAKE FACTS

  • The National Earthquake Information Center records an average of 20,000 earthquakes every year around the world. There are, however, millions of earthquakes estimated to occur every year that are too weak to be recorded.
  • Each year the southern California area has about 10,000 earthquakes -- the majority of which go unnoticed. However, if there is a large earthquake the aftershock sequence will produce many more earthquakes of all magnitudes for months.
  • An earthquake can cause a volcano to erupt.

Volcanos

Volcanos are destructive because the hot ash can suffocate people and dirty water supply's. Also the ash in the air can block out light and when the ash falls it falls on towns and kills many people, wild life, and live stock.

VALCANO FACTS

  • 50-70 volcanoes erupted last year, and 160 were active in the last decade. Scientist estimate that 1,300 erupted in the last 10,000 years.
  • 3 quarters of the eruptions happen underneath the ocean
  • The tallest volcano isn't on Earth its on Mars.

Hurricanes

Hurricanes are a destructive force because they move slow and can do a lot of damage. When hurricanes moves slow, they can do a lot of damage in one place for a long time. It can rain a lot and leave a lot of water that floods and wipes out houses because it rains so much.

HURRICANE FACTS

  • There are many different names for a hurricane like cyclone, typhoon and tropical storm.
  • Taino Native American came up with the word hurricane which means evil spirit of the wind.
  • He first man who came up with the name hurricane was a weather reporter named C. Wragge in the early 1900s.

Conclusion

Tornadoes,EQ,volcanoes, and hurricanes all have many things in common. Therefore we think they all have something to do with each other.
