Virtual World

  • all 3d graphics are synthetic
  • properties are given to objects by software
  • 3d world determines view of pixels
  • objects look in ways that show mass
  • objects must act realistically too

Realistic Graphics

  • use shapes, texture, lighting, and perspective
  • uses polygons to look realistic
  • color and texture is important
  • lighting shows depth
  • perspective can change sizes of objects

Animating 3D Graphics

  • photographic backgrounds add to realism
  • image blurring to induce speed is added
  • reflections are designed also
  • reflections are blurred when adding speed
  • animations are made usually at 24 fps

Computers and Graphics

  • screen resolution of 1024x768 is low hi-def
  • handles 1,509,949,440 bits of information per second
  • computer also decides about content, colors, lighting
  • graphics boards help CPU process large graphics
  • often computers are overwhelmed by large files of graphics
