PRESENTATION OUTLINE
=Description=
-The Through The Hoop toy is a toy composed of stress balls and a slanted board with hoops in the center of it.The player starts to throw the ball into the hoops starting with 2 feet and adding an extra foot everytime the player scored which is by shooting the ball through the hoop. Each player has 5 lives each, if they miss to shoot the ball through the hoops, then they will lose 1 life. The winner is determined by the player with the least number of lives decreased after 10 turns. By the way, the board of the hoop is made out of assembled plywood.
-One of its function is to help increase the accuracy of the disabled kids with cerebral palsy because usually most of them are cross-eyed and have a hard time seeing things. This toy is perfect for them.
-The other function of this toy is to increase their throwing power/muscle strength. How you might asked? Because everytime they shoot the ball through the hoop, they move farther away by a foot, right? So the farther the distance, the more force it is required to throw the ball in order to go through it in the hoop. This can improve their muscle strength because most of the victims of the cerebral palsy have very weak muscles. This is one way to improve their muscle strength.
-The last one is to give happiness and joy to them because we want them to feel that they are just like normal kids who play with toys.
How does our toy can help develop the motor skills of kids who have cerebral palsy?
-Our toy can help develop the motor skills of children who have cerebral palsy by improving their gross motor skills such as throwing and eye accuracy. In general, Our toy can improve their muscle power and eye accuracy.
How will your toy entertain these kids?
- Our toy can entertain kids by letting them experience that they are just like normal kids who play with toys and forget their disability temporarily.
MATHEMATHICAL CONCEPTS
- Congruence
- Parallelism
- Perpendicular
PERPENDICULAR
- There are perpendicular angles.
- The square holes and corners have 90 degree angles
- Some of the supports have 90 degree corners
- The balls, being spheres, are not perpendicular.
CONGRUENCE
- If you divide the project in half, both sides are congruent.
- All parts used, except for the board with square holes, have congruent parts.
- The balls are also congruent with each other, being the same size.
PARALLELISM
- Vertical lines on the sides, holes, and supports are parallel
- Horizontal line on the sides, holes and supports are also parallel
