CHARACTERISTICS

• Dark black above, white below
• Pectoral fins long and pointed
• To large cephalic fins protruding from the head
• Small, sub-terminal mouth
• Whip like talk as long as the length of the body

• Has no spine
• Wingspan up to 4 feet

FOOD

• Mainly on plantonic crustaceans
• May consume small schooling fish

REPRODUCTION

• Aplacental viviparity (embryos develope inside eggs)
• Usually 1 pup per litter

HABITAT AND RANGE

• Off shore deep waters sometimes shallow
• Live throughout the mediterranean sea
• Depth from a few tens of meters to several thousand
• Pelagic, shallow costal waters to ocean waters
