TYPE 1 & 2

  • Type 1 little or few produced by pancreas
  • Type 2 pancreas doesn't make enough
  • Type 2 doesn't use insulin right

AGES OF TYPE

  • Type 1 less than 20years
  • Type 2 40-60 years old
  • 10-15% of people have type 1
  • 85-90% of people have type 2

SYMPTOMS

  • Type 1 occurs suddenly
  • Type 2 appear slowly
  • Type 1 has mood swings
  • Type 2 has loss of feeling in feet/hands

COMPLICATIONS FROM BOTH

  • Diabetic coma
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Nephropathy
  • Brain infraction
  • Amputation

TREATMENT FOR BOTH

  • Sugar controlled healthy diet
  • Exercise
  • Insulin shots
  • Testing of blood sugar
