I am scared going to this unknown land but I have to earn money to let my family to survive I promised them I will come back When the sailor called all aboard that was the felling that I had I carefully walked on to the ramp then to the ship then the Captain called tickets please I handed my ticket and sat in the front row of the ship as I sat I am writing my dairy like you’re reading now then suddenly the lunch time bell rang I quickly rushed to the kitchen and grabbed two slices of loaf and a glass of water so I don’t miss out lunch. After few hours it was dark I kept looking at the shining dark glowing moon then I slept in my cabin. Thinking about how life is going to be at Australia.

I travelled on the boat for about 14 days that’s why I didn’t write because there’s nothing to do now I am just few hours from Australia I am getting more nervous when the time gets faster I want to go back now but I can’t because If I had decided to come here I stay here. Now I just need to wait suddenly a loud sound happened the captain told everyone to wait and told us we’re safe that time I had a felling something bad is going happen. Then the captain shouted aboard ship immediately suddenly the ship was sinking everyone jumped of the ship so did I. Then the captain shouted swim to shore and there you’ll arrive at Australia we swam for a long time and we finally reached shore but my diary was wet so I kept it warm so I could keep writing and keep it as a memory.

After my diary was soaked I found a pocket knife in my pocket and I think and think and think finally I had a idea It was to use the pocket knife and find some animals and kill them and eat their food under the fire so I don’t starve to death. The first target was a duck I carefully crept up to the duck when the duck was about to drink the water I rushed and stabbed the duck to death and blood spilt over my face I took the ducks meat and bones under the fire I ate the duck and I said sarcastically this duck was so delicious then I slept quickly on the soft sand.

I slept until the morning and got up I went up to a Chinese and asked him where is this he replied the is in SA Robe if you want to go to the gold fields you’d have to travel east 430Km and It’s about 3 days walk. That point I was doomed of the 3d walk so I quickly went to gather some food and water for my 3 day trip. I told myself I could not give up since I got here I went to the nearby lake and I took out my 1L water tank and filled it up I am glad that I was prepared the trip. Then I found someone next to me he was a Chinese so I asked him are you going to the gold fields? "Yes" is what he replied I asked him if he’d want to walk with me to there. He said yes again. From that point I’d fell great because I have someone who can come with me on the journey. So we started our trip.

After 3 long days of travel we finally arrived at the Ballarat gold fields we quickly rushed to a good camping spot and settled down and then we unpacked our stuff and was ready to mine but the only problem was that we need a mining license but we only have $30 and we need to go back so 30-20=10 so we had to work to ten dollars to go back. Then we decided we’re going to do it we rushed to where we need to buy the mining pinces and brought a pickaxes and a mining license. After hours of mining there was a fight in the nearby gold fields I quickly rushed to it and saw my friend was involved in the fight. I pushed my way through the crowd and helped my friend.

Soon after I went I got punched and kicked by other miners. Soon later I fought back and knocked down both of the miners and went digging but each step making me want to collapsed at one point I finally couldn’t hold it then I fainted on the dirty mud. Beside my mine later I woke up in my tent checking if the diary was there. Then it was in my pocket I thought phew it’s there. Then my friend quickly rushed into my tent shouting ARE YOU OKAY I said I’m fine and asked him what happened later he replied that the British miners will leave us alone. Then I told him we better get ready ready for dinner. He quickly got some bread from his bag and some duck meat leftover this morning. He started the fire and we both sat there thinking about what is going to happen tomorrow.

After days and days of mining I seem to have no hope I was doomed and if I couldn’t find enough money I couldn’t go back to china but that time my shovel hit something hard I carefully mined the surface around it and I saw a large golden nugget that was the most happiest moment of my life now I’m on my way and sold this golden nugget for $966 I hurried back to my friend and we both together returned to china. On the way I was thinking and thinking that when we arrive that I would give my friend a third of the share so I gave a third to him for going along the hard journey.
