Did anyone ever escape from Alcatraz
Alcatraz was known as The nations most secure prison .Federal official insist that not a single inmate could escape through these walls.
Clint Eastwood plays frank Morris in the movie escape from Alcatraz who people say led an escape attempt from Alcatraz on June 1962.
The brothers made fake vent covers and then slipped out through the air vents and made it outside.
Then the Morris brothers set off the San Francisco Bay on a boat made from rain coats.They were never seen again promoting claims that was the only successful escape.
Suggested opinions were that they may have drowned.In all 36 men made a total of 14 escape attempts during Alcatraz history.
Of these 23 were caught,six were shot and killed during there escape and 2 drowned.
The remaining five including Morris and the Anglins went missing and presumed to have drowned.
The prison closed on March 1963 after operations became to expensive to continue.The rock is now part of the national parks system.
