THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET

This diet was made to lose weight and reduce heart disease by trying to use healthy fats.

The diet includes a lot of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seafood, olive oil, and nuts

EXAMPLE MEAL

  • Mediterranean vegetable soup
  • Whole grain roll
  • Grilled seafood
  • Cooked fresh vegetables
  • Fresh salad with oil and vinegar dressing
  • Fruit for dessert

BENEFITS

  • It isn't a a low fat diet but it uses healthy fats
  • People like this diet and stick with it for a long time
  • Studies have shown that the risks of diseases decreases

NEGATIVES

  • It does not include a lot of dairy products
  • If you don't eat in moderation your fat content could go up instead of down
  • The recipes can be difficult to cook
