Mechanical vs. chemical transportation😉
chemical digestion is when your stomach dissovles the food in your mouth using saliva, or when the enzymes and bile break it down in the stomach. Good way to travel if you don't want to be chewed to death.
Mechanical digestion is when you chew the food using your teeth, and when your esophagus swallows the food using perastalsis. Good way to travel if you don't want to die drowning in acid.
RESIDENTS
😉Amylase- Amylase is a digestive enzyme that acts on starch in food, breaking it down into smaller carbohydrate molecules
😉Protease-Any enzyme that breaks down protein into its building blocks, amino acids, is called a protease, which is a general term.
😉lipase-Lipase is an enzyme that breaks down dietary fats into smaller molecules called fatty acids and glycerol.
Digestion of protiens😉
Protein digestion occurs in the stomach, enzymes break down food proteins into polypeptides, which are then broken down into amino acids. The digestive enzym, trypsin then breaks down proteins to smaller polypeptides.
Digestion of fats 😉
TRANSPORTATION
Most fats consist of three fatty acids that are linked. Your body can break down these acids for energy. lipases break the bonds between the small fatty acids, and these free fatty acids travel to the small intestine where cells in the intestinal wall absorb them into your bloodstream. Bile salts are secreted into your small intestine, where they work with other enzymes and hormones to break the links between long fatty acids. These long free fatty acids are packaged into transport molecules and absorbed by cells in the intestinal wall.
Digestion of Protien😉
ROOM SERVICE
Stomach cells produce acid and an enzyme called pepsin, which work together to break the protein into smaller proteins and some single amino acids. These travel to the small intestine, where they encounter another set of enzymes secreted from your pancreas and intestinal wall cells. These enzymes continue to break down Protien. These amino acids are transported across the intestinal wall cell and travel through the bloodstream, supplying amino acids to the different parts of your body. So if you are craving some amino acid you can order as much as you like from room service.
Liver and pancreas concierge service😉
The liver and pancreas will aid any need of yours. The liver secretes bile which aids in the breakdown of lipids into fatty acids. The enzymes which speeds up the rate of the digestion of lipids is Lipase, and this is secreted by the pancreas.
The pancreas also secretes many other enzymes including: Two protease's are trypsin and chymotrypsin. These enzymes speed up the rate in which protein is digested into amino acids.
Amylase is also produced in the pancreas (As well as the salivary glands in the mouth), and amylase breaks down starch into maltose molecules.
Villi😉
Recently in digestive destination we've expanded our space through the use of villis. They are folds in the mucous membrane of the small intestine. The villi increase the surface area of the membrane by 30 times. On the villi, there are more miniature projections and these are called microvilli, they increase the surfae area by another 300 times.
Villis' job is to increase the surface area so that there is more space for the small intestines to absorb the nutrients of food.
