MOUTH

The mouth has chemical and mechanical digestion
Mouth has both chemical and mechanical digestion because of the teeth and the amylase in saliva.

ESOPHAGUS

Foods travel down this tube by peristalsis
After the food is ready for thorough digestion it goes through the esophagus. A tube that goes down your throat and into your stomach. During transition from mouth to stomach it goes through a process called, peristalsis. Peristalsis is a movement in which muscles contract and expand around the food to help break it down before digesting and dividing into the stomach.
