Duodenum

  • The duodenum is where the digested food comes after the stomach. It its also where the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder all mix there enzymes to help digest
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Liver

  • The liver secretes bile that is stored in the gallbladder used to digest fats
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

GallBladder

  • Stores the bile produced by the liver to be secreted when a fat needs to be digested
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Jejunum

  • The lining of the jejunum is specialized for absorption of small nutrients digested by the duodenum
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Ileum

  • The ileum absorbs the products that were not absorbs by the jejunum
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Cecum

  • The cecum absorbs fluids and salts that remain after digestion the internal walls are coated in mucous to absorb waters and salts
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Ascending Colon

  • Carries feces from the cecum. Also allows bacteria to digest fecal matter to release extra vitamins which absorb into the internal wall.
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Transverse Colon

  • Moves fecal matter from the ascending colon to the descending colon main part of feces formation
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Descending Colon

  • Feces is stored until the body needs to be rid of it. The walls also absorb the remaining nutrients left.
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Sigmoid Colon

  • Stores the feces soon to be ready to be excreted through the anal canal
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Rectum

  • Final segment of the large intestines stores feces ready to be excreted
  • Taylor, Tim. "Digestive System." InnerBody. HowToMedia, Inc., 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 16 Apr. 2017.

Anus

  • The anus is the orifice that feces passes through during defecation.
