DIGESTIVE SYSTEM (ORGANS)

MOUTH AND SALIVA
- This is where the food comes in to the body and where chemical and mechanical breakdown start

ESOPHAGUS
- A long tube where food travels into the stomach

STOMACH
- A muscle like sac where chemical and mechanical breakdown occurs.

SMALL INTESTINE
- An 7 yard long hollow muscle tube where the energy is sucked out of the digested food

LARGE INTESTINE
- A thicker and shorter hollow muscle tube that sucks the water out of the remains of the digested food.

LIVER
- An accessory organ; creates bile

GALLBLADDER
- An accessory organ; stores bile

PANCREAS
- An accessory organ; creates digestive enzymes

RECTUM
- A storage sac that stores undigested food before it is eliminated from the body
