Why is digital citizenship important?

• Digital citizenship is a concept that helps teachers and parents teach students how to use technology appropriately. Today, it is especially important because we live in a world full of technology. By introducing digital citizenship to students at a young age, teachers can help prevent misuse and abuse of technology.

What has influenced my thoughts?

• Experiences in the classroom! Students are trusted on the classroom Chromebooks because digital citizenship expectations have been put in place in the classroom.
• This innovative instruction class! This course has solidified my belief that teaching digital citizenship in the classroom is extremely important.

Digital citizenship in my classroom...

• I plan to teach, reinforce, and rehearse classroom management procedures related to digital citizenship.
• Also, I plan on displaying posters in my classroom related to digital citizenship similar to the one on the next slide.
