Folksonomy

  • A user-driven cataloging system that is constantly in flux.

Responsiveness

  • The ability of a machine or system to adjust quickly to suddenly altered external conditions, as of speed, load, or temperature, and to resume stable operation without undue delay.
  • Within participatory web work it refers to the ability to respond to user-actions i.e. tagging, commenting, searching, creating pins and links etc.

Contextualization

  • The process of assigning meaning as a means of interpreting the environment within which a text (in the broadest sense), action, or event is executed.

Participatory Museum

  • A Site that encourages visitors to participate and then provides responsive value based on their actions.

Key Questions

  • Who gets a say and how do their voices get heard?
  • How can we embrace the full spectrum of participatory behavior or become comprehensively responsive?
  • Can every site do everything or are there key elements of participatory behavior we can parse out and include in our projects?
