Diploid

A cell or nucleus that contains two complete sets of chromosomes,one from each parent.

Haploid

A cell or nucleus that has a single set of unpaired chromosomes.

Gamete

A reproductive haploid cell that is capable of  uniting with another cell to form a zygote.

Hyphae

The thread-like filaments that make up a multicellular fungus. 

Mycelium

The vegetative part of a fungus which consists of Hyphae

Erythrocyte

A cell that contains hemoglobin and can carry oxygen to the body (red blood cell)

Hemoglobin

A protein of red blood cells that carries oxygen from lungs to body and CO2 from body to lungs

Homeostasis

A tendency of the body to seek and maintain a condition of balance

the chemical processes by which a living animal or plant uses food & water to live
