Materials

  • 3 cups
  • 1cup of water for each cup
  • 1 teaspoon
  • salt

Prediction

  • If you add more salt to the water then it will take longer for the salt to dissolve.

  • How long will it take water to dissolve different quanites of salt.

Independent and Dependent variables

  • Independent is the ammount of salt.
  • Dependent is the time it take to dissolve the salt.

Procedure

  • Fill 3 cups with 1 cup of water.
  • Add 1teaspoon of salt to the first cup.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the second cup.
  • Add 3 teaspoons of salt to the third cup.
  • Time and stir all three of the different cups.

  • It took 22 seconds to dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt.
  • It took 35 seconds to dissolve 2 teaspoons of salt.
  • It took 43 seconds to dissolve 3 teaspoons of salt.

Conclusion

  • When you add more salt to a fixed ammount of water it takes longer for the salt to dissolve.
