• The city was destroyed and after it was rebuilt a new civilization resurfaced
• The people made a new system to keep lasting peace
• This system is called The Faction System

• The Erudite value knowlage, they believe in finding a smart way to solve situations
• Manifesto- Intelligence must be used for the benefit of the society
• They wear blue, because it is proven that blue is better for the mind
• The Erudite are the cities teachers, engineers, and scientists
• Symbol- Eye Leader- Jeanine Matthews Substance at choosing ceremony- Water

AMITY

• Amity value kindness and harmony, they believe in finding a solution without fighting or conflict
• Manifesto- Trust. Self-Sufficiency. Forgiveness. Kindness
• The Amity wear earthy colors such as yellow, green and red because they are 'happy' colors
• The Amity is the cities farmers, doctors and suppliers of food
• Symbol- Tree Leader- None (They vote as a whole) Substance at choosing ceremony- Earth

CANDOR

• Candor value honesty, they believe that being an honest person is the best person
• Manifesto- Dishonesty is rampant. Dishonesty is temporary. Dishonesty makes evil possible
• The Candor wear black and white because honesty is all black and white
• The Candor are the cities judicial system
• Symbol- Glass Leader- Jack Kang Substance at choosing ceremony- Glass

ABNEGATION

• Abnegation value selflessness, the believe that being selfless is the best type of person
• Manifesto- I will become selfless, it will be my undoing.
• The Abnegation wear gray because it is a color that doesnt attract attention
• The Abnegation are the cites council members because they are trusted most by other factions
• Symbol- Hands Leader- Andrew Prior, Marcus Eaton Substance at choosing ceremony- Gray round stones

DAUNTLESS

• Dauntless believe in bravery, they believe that a coward is weak and doesnt belong
• Manifesto- We believe in ordinary acts of bravery that drives a person to stand up for another
• The Dauntless wear black because it attracts the most attention and it's a daring color
• The Dauntless are the cities policeman, soldiers and protectors
• Symbol- Flame Leader- Max Substance at choosing ceremony- Burning coals
