Divergent vs The Hunger games
The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss who lives in a dystopian life. Every year the government has a Hunger games. During the Hunger Games kids from age 12 - 18 are forced to fight to the death. Katniss’s little sister is chosen to participate in the games and Katniss volunteers to take her sisters place. During the games katniss is faced with many problems that the gamemakers give her. In the end a big choice is to be made and a big turn of events happens.
Divergent
Divergent is about a girl named Beatrice that lives in a dystopian world. Every year all 16 years olds have to choose a faction. The 5 factions to choose from are Candor, Erudite, Amity, Dauntless and Abnegation. Beatrice chooses a faction that no one expected and in that faction she changes her name to Tris. In her new faces many challenges, physical and mental. For example, she has to fight people and face her fears. But her biggest problem is that she has a secret that no one can know because her life depends on it. Tris is divergent. Even though she does not know what it means she knows it important. Through out the book Tris is realizing that the fact she is divergent is becoming more and more important.
The two main protagonist in the books are alike in three main ways
The first similarity is that they both are struggling with poverty

Struggling from poverty - “Perhaps the answer is that we have entrusted our city to a group of proselytizing tyrants who do not know how to lead us out of poverty and into prosperity” (244)
This quote is when Peter is reading a note that claims that the factions are in poverty

Struggling from poverty - “ District 12: Where you can starve to death in safety.” (7)
This quote is about when Katniss complains about how bad her district is
Another way they are alike is that they both like someone
Divergent
Have someone that they like - “ I am aware of how little space there is between us--six inches at most. That space feels charged with electricity. I feel like it should be smaller.” (150)
This quote is about Four is holding Tris keeping her from falling
The Hunger Games
Someone that they like -
“This was the first kiss that we we're both fully aware of” (294)
This quote is about the moment right after Katniss and Peeta kissed
The last similarity between them is that they both are careing for other people
Divergent
Care for others -
“That's not entirely true." He smiles at me. "That girl who let someone throw knives at her to spare a friend, who hit my dad with a belt to protect me-that selfless girl, that's not you?”
This quote is about when Four talks to Tris about how selfless she is

Care For Others -
“I volunteer!” I gasp. “I volunteer as tribute!” (23)
This quote is about Katniss volunteering to play in the Hunger Games for her sister
