RACISM

  • Simple Definition: the belief that one race is better/superior to another race
  • Example: thinking you are superior to a person of color

STEREOTYPES

  • Simple definition an exaggerated generalization of a group (usually offensive)
  • Examples: white people are rich, asians are smart

PREJUDICE

  • Simple definition: an unfavorable opinion without prior knowledge or fact
  • Example: not liking someone because you have a different religion

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TERMS

  • Racism is different because it is only focused on race while other terms are more general and broad
  • Stereotypes are different because it focuses on the actions of others
  • Prejudice is different because it is a more general term about not liking something because of false prior knowledge
