The Dominican Republic is very small considering the rest of the world

  • Surrounded by the Caribbean sea and atlantic ocean
  • semi-desert plains with some vallys
  • tropical rain forest with 27 different climatic zones
  • The Cordillera Central, which is a mountain range, that includes the highest mountain-Pico Duarte

Languages- The official language is Spanish but there i some Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and Caribbean Creole English (Creole english is mostly spoken in Jamaica.)

Flag

  • The flag of the Dominican Republic was designed by founding father Juan Pablo Duarte, and adopted in 1844. The color blue is for liberty, red for the blood of heroes, and white for salvation. A small coat of arms rests at the center of the flag.
  • The blue ribbon above the shield displays the national motto: Dios, Patria, Libertad (God, Fatherland, Liberty).

  • Street signs and restaurant menus are written in Spanish, which is the country’s official language.
  • February 27, 1844 is the official independence day of the D.R.
  • The country is also known the world over for its golf courses that are set along the breathtaking coast.
