PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Gaskin's was born on March 13, 1933 in South Carolina. His childhood was filled with beatings from his step dad and kids at his school. His childhood is part of the reason he became one of the most horrible serial killers in America.
He raped, sodomized, and tortured his victims before he killed them.
Gaskins said that he would have bothersome feelings that were only satisfied when he tortured, and killed.
In his lifetime Gaskins killed up to 110 people
"I have walked the same path as God, by taking lives and making others afraid, I became God's equal. Through killing others, I became my own master. Through my own power I come to my own redemption."
Donald Gaskins
Gaskins asked a friend, Walter Neely, to help him bury the bodies of the recent people he had killed. He also showed Neely his private cementary where he had buried other locals.
The authorities were becoming suspicious of Gaskins when the clothes of a missing girl were found in his home. Neely cracked under pressure, and on November 14, 1975 ended up telling the police of Gaskin's recent killings and showing the police Gaskin's cemetary where the bodies were buried.

On May 24, 1976 Gaskins was convicted for the
Gaskins wanted to avoid more death sentences so he confessed to seven more murders
In November of 1976 The Supreme Court ruled that death penalty was unconstitutional. So instead Gaskins was given seven consecutive life sentences in jail.
In 1978, while Gaskins was in jail the death penalty was restored. This would not have affected Gaskins if he had decided to not kill. But he killed once more.
A man named Tony Cimo hired Gaskins to murder a man named Rudolph Tyner who had killed Cimo's parents and was in the same prison as Gaskins.
Gaskins rigs a radio with explosives, and gives it to Tyner and says that it will let them communicate. When Tyner tunes in, Gaskins detonates the bomb and Tyner is killed instantly.
Since the death penalty is now constitutional Gaskins is sentenced to death.
In the months leading up to his death, Gaskins claims to have murdered over 100 people.
Gaskins was executed in the electric chair at 1:05 a.m on September 6, 1991.
Was Justice Served?
Yes, justice was served to Donald Gaskins when he finally got the death penalty. He was an evil, twisted man who murdered many innocent people in order to satisfy himself so he deserved the penalty.
We have learned a lot from this research project. We see how times have definitely changed when it comes to law and investigation. This trial still applies to issues in today's society because there are still serial killers today. There will always be bad people, but eventually justice is served to them all. In the end, the bad never wins.
