  • Our topic is Down syndrome. 
  • It is important because it affect 400000 people.

Who is affected

  • Down syndrome occurs in people of all races and economic levels.
  • How it happens is when someone has a copy of the chromosome 21.

These are the common symptoms of down syndrome.

  • Decreased or poor muscle tone
  • Short neck, with excess skin at the back of the neck
  • Flattened facial profile and nose

Some more common SYMPTOMS are...

  • Small head, ears, and mouth
  • Wide, short hands with short fingers
  • A single, deep, crease across the palm of the hand

The topic of the matter became important when people started realizing the health defects that come with this defect.

Who this SYNDROME eFFECTS

  • It effects 1 out out of 670 births
  • Any one who has Down syndrome can not be cured.

Life expectancy for people with Down syndrome has increased dramatically in recent decades - from 25 in 1983 to 60 today.
