Parenting
Down Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by an error in cell division that results in an extra 21st chromosome.😔
The Effects👎
The condition leads to impairments in both cognitive ability and physical growth that range from mild to moderate developmental disabilities.
Symptoms😣
Distinctive facial features, such as a flat face, small ears, slanting eyes, and a small mouth. A short neck and short arms and legs,
weak muscles, loose joints, muscle tone usually improves by late childhood, and below-average intelligence.
Detection😁
Various screening tests can help identify whether you have a high risk of carrying a baby with Down syndrome before it is born. Such as, DNA tests, blood tests, and ultra sounds.
Treatment😊
There is no specific treatment for Down syndrome. When breast-feeding, the baby should be well supported and fully awake. The baby may have some leakage because of poor tongue control. However, many infants with Down syndrome can successfully breast-feed.
Bryson💙
Bryson is my 4 year old cousin with Down syndrome. He is just like a normal kid he loves to play and he's so funny.
